Why does Samsung release the phones later in the us?

I don't think this is actually a thing.

there are a couple of things to remember... first, other countries that people post from, like the UK for me, are significantly smaller than the US making distribution a simpler and quicker process.

The second is that Samsungs logistics are absolutely awful

What's your delivery date? because mine is the 17th, so yours is the 24th, right?.

It is for pre-orders this year. Many people in Europe have been reporting deliveries for a few days now, but no one in the US has. Our FedEx shipping notices only started yesterday (Wednesday), which is in time for Friday delivery, but FedEx's status says they have shipper instructions to hold delivery until Monday (13th). That's four days before Samsung's official release date of the 17th, which is the usual gap here between first deliveries and official release.

As for why, I don't know of course, but I'd guess that Samsung wants to stagger initial releases slightly in order to flatten the curve on tech-support problems, leaving the largest market for last.

The short answer is, global rollouts are hard.

Now appreciate that you are rolling out a product that is highly regulated in just about every country, and you have to coordinate with each country's group of highly regulated wireless service providers.

It's not like they have one guy, in the warehouse with a clipboard, saying, "OK, now let the shipment to the UK go!"

Frankly I'm impressed that they manage to get everything out as close together as they do.

Release date on the preorder said the 17th. Expect to get it then. If you get it before that consider it a bonus. So many people fretting about this.

Usually the US are on par or even earlier than us in the UK. Last year we managed to get the S22 Ultra a couple of days before the given release date but before that it's always been on the date.
Our pre order bonuses had been trash up until a couple of years ago also, I got a good trade in deal for the Note 20 Ultra for the S22 but less this time around for the S23.
We don't get credit for signing up for pre orders over here either which you guys generally get.

I think this time Samsung US has been pretty tight with pre order gifts and trade ins which are usually great. Maybe people will hang on to their previous phones and hold out until samsung bring in more offers.

I don't think that's true, they've shown a massive amount of favouritism towards the US over the years.
US only got good trade-in deals and that looks to end , international version are heavy favorites to get software updates first , features, unlock bootloader , phones arrive first in that region so yeah international versions are in the favorite column over US .
You guys were doing better in the chip department for a long time until recently Snap dragon passed Exynos chip.

It is a bit irrelevant now that they are levelling the playingfield, but I think most of us would have gladly given up the "benefit" of testing new updates first for you guys ridiculous trade in dealls.

It all really depends.

Samsung uses FedEx, they, apparently, will hold devices (warehouse them) for Samsung until delivery date.

Where mine, T-Mobile ordered, stated that they will ship on the 17th, but it shipped and UPS, assuming this, doesn't seem to want to warehouse them, so mines getting here today.

There is no logic to it that anyone can find. I REALLY think it depends a LOT on the carrier and how much space they are willing to sacrifice to hold onto deliveries, well, and how much they are getting paid for said service, because space is not cheap.

Also, as others have stated, regulations, fulfillment abilities and all that should be taken into account too, these are just things my brain came up with. :D

Plain and simple , Samsung caters to the international over the US as they sell more in other countries compared to the US .
I think it's just logistics. US and South Korea are the biggest market for Samsung if you just take country by country (just for their flagships not budget phones). On the contrary because they sell more flagships in the US, may be they are much more organized and coordinated than other countries in Europe where they just don't care too much about thinking about release dates etc?

You also have UK,Poland, Afghanistan
To me from years watching Samsung the international version is first before anywhere else

When people talk about Samsung spec's, software its almost immediately international version they refer to. They are the forefront of Samsung.
