Why does tethering not work on my galaxy AO3s?

[Android Central Question]

I am connecting via USB 2.0 to a Windows 10 laptop, which is fully updated, and I have run every troubleshooter, but to no avail. I installed the Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows v1.7.50, and when that failed, I installed the Samsung Smart Switch app, which installed drivers, and still no bueno. Everything looks good in Device Manager, i.e, nothing needs updating or is not recognised. The adapter showing in the network menu is enabled, showing that it is sending and receiving data, but still unable to connect to a website. I have the phone set to tethering and the WiFi is disabled.

Have you tried different cable ?

Welcome to Android Central! Does it have to be USB tethering? What about using the wi-fi hotspot?
