Why does the Nexus 5 have a "Pressure" sensor?

Pressure sensor?? Assume (probably incorrect of course) it's related to weather but are there stock apps that utilize this sensor?

I am sure GPS and any kind of map apps use it in case of poor connection to satellites and also to measure your altitude and give you a more accurate position

Location service can access it, like jev425 says above. The end game is to be able to tell what floor you're on indoors, according to a friend who works on the Maps team.

How badass is that?

Someday, someone will turn this into a fitbit killer. With the pressure sensor, it can tell how many stairs you've climbed.
