Why doesn't my default email app no longer retrieve emails from the server?

default email app no longer retrieving emails from server

somehow email default application on s5 no longer can retrieve emails from Google server on my gmail account, help please

Welcome to Android Central! Try removing the Gmail account from the Email app, then adding it back again.

Any reason why you'd rather not use the actual Gmail app? It's pretty good.
