Why doesn't my Galaxy S4 identify my charger most of the time?

My Galaxy 4

It does not identify the charger most of the time. What can I do? I have seen other people have even bought new chargers and that did not work either. I know I should just break down and buy a new phone but, I just can't afford one right now.

Have you checked the USB port for dirt or damage? Or tried a different lead?

All cables and all chargers do not work with your phone. Be sure the charger is at least 2.1 amp capable then try different cables. Check for debris in the port with a good light and magnifying glass. Use a non metal object such as a toothpick to remove any dust or junk from the port.
