Why doesn't my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 work after changing Digitizer screen assembly

My daughter shattered the glass on the Kindle. It was still working. I ordered a new digitizer/screen assembly (in fact, I have tried 2 different ones) and I can't get it to come on. I have opened and closed the case and made sure the connections were properly made but, it still won't come on.

After replacing the Digitizer/screen assembly (I've tried 2 different ones), I cannot get the Kindle to turn on. It was working before with the shattered screen. I have been very careful to make certain that the connections are properly secured between the assembly and the back half.
