Why doesn't my lg ultimate 2 read my 8gb sd card?

My old zte majesty will read it without any problems as will my laptop, but when I put it into my new phone it won't load anything the only thing that it says is available space and total space. How can I fix this without formatting my sd card and losing everything?

Welcome to Android Central! What filesystem is it formatted in? FAT32? Insert it into a computer, bring up Windows Explorer, and right click the SD card to look at its properties.
