Why doesn't my media files show up in my gallery or music apps?

Good Afternoon

My phone doesn't show my media files in my gallery and music apps unless I transfer the media to my SD card.
I've been having this problem for a while now and I really need help to fix it. I've tried updating my software and deleting apps that could possibly be the cause of this but there hasn't been any difference.
My phone is a LG Q6

Welcome to Android Central! Where on Internal Storage are you saving these media files? Using a file manager app, make sure a .nomedia file isn't present in any of those directories (or their parent directories).
