Why doesn't my zenfone 6 quick charge anymore?

[Android Central Question]

When I got the phone quick charging didn't work. When the update came in September it was solved for a week or so and even before the new update rolled out it stopped working again.

To make things even stranger, I've tried various fast charging cables like the one from the OP3 and Xiaomi mi mix, but the only cable that prompts my device to fast charge is a MacBook Pro charger I use at work of all things.

I have no idea why it behaves like this and what I can do about. The fact that the MacBook Pro charger works, shows that the phone is still capable of quick charging so I don't think it needs to be send in for repair.

My phone's bootloader is locked and it's not rooted.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you contacted ASUS support about this? If quick charging never worked, it may be a hardware defect. If the phone is still under warranty, ask ASUS to fix it or replace the phone.
