Why don't I have sound when connect my HTC One M8 via aux port in my 2014 Equinox?

No Sound When Connect HTC ONE M8 VIA AUX PORT IN MY 2014 EQUINOX

I connect my phone to my 2014 Equinox via a 3.5mm cable. I click AUX, hit play and get absolutely no sound. This happens with music, podcasts and phone calls. The sound plays through the phone and not the car's stereo system.

I tried doing the same with my other car, 2014 Murano, the same thing happened.

I assume it is some sort of Settings issue, but can't seem to figure it out

Any idea what this could be?

It could be that the phone needs to see a load (like an earphone) to transfer sound from the speaker to the earphone connection on the jack - and the Aux input is usually a bridging input, high impedance, not a load. They should make "loaded" patch cables, but I've never seen any, so throwing a 10 ohm resistor across one of the earphone lines to ground might do it. (Physically it might take a bit of doing - like a little cut in the cable, with the resistor soldered across the 2 wires, and a bit of shrink-wrap tubing over the whole thing.)
