Why don't my emails sync and notifications no longer occur since Lollipop upgrade?

Email synching and notifications no longer occur since Lollipop upgrade

On my Galaxy S4 since the Lollipop upgrade my email app (stock) no longer synch's automatically even though I have it set to synch every 15 minutes during most of the day. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Try removing the email account from the Email app, then adding it back.

If what B. Diddy suggest does not get you going, you may want to changing the sync time to something else, sometimes just changing a setting with reset bit in the config file. If this does not get you in sync then try clearing the Apps cache and data.

Thank you both for your suggestions! Clearing the App Data was the step that did the trick

I'm having this same issue but it will not let me clear the app data, only the cache.

You may have to do a force stop first.

I thought that now emails worked using "push" rather than "pull" which is why the Gmail app doesn't have any sync interval settings?

DLK it won't let me do a force stop. Everything is grayed out. Only thing it'll let me do is clear cache

Check the play store for updates to the email app?

You might try as dakshay95 suggest check to see if there is an update for the app. I am not sure the grayed out force stop may not be available to you. I am rooted and I never had a phone that was not rooted. So maybe force stop is only available when rooted.

Had the exact same problem on Galaxy Note 4, was using Microsoft Exchange (ME) with "push" which worked fine with KitKat but "ME" didn't work with lollipop.
Downgraded back to KitKat all is fine with email arriving instantly again.
