Why "Gallery" using 15% of Battery when not in use?

As of two days ago, my Note II has shown an incredibly fast battery drain. I have not done anything new to the phone and no new Apps installed.

It's a VZW Note II and still on 4.1.1. I got it the first day it become available on Nov 29 and it has been running stellar.

I just checked the battery usage and it show Screen 37% and then Gallery 15% as the second highest user. Why is Gallery using power, when it's not even in use. I have removed the battery and now restarted and charging.

Any insights would be appreciated.

i had a similar issue with Media (NOT Media server) draining the battery at a crazy-fast rate. I ended up (choke, choke) resetting the phone. It's been fine ever since. FWIW, the drain from Media was several percentage points every few minutes--clearly a serious drain. it's all back to normal and has been for quite some time. good luck.

You probably have it syncing with Picasa and if you don't have good data signal it may just keep trying and trying.

I thought so, I disabled Picasa Uploader and its still shows 15%. I tried that before posting.

is there an app in particular I need to disable, besides?

Battery stats don't reset until you get the battery back up to 100%

and you are right...

Now the Gallery is totally off my Battery usage list. and the massive draining seems to have stopped. keep in mind I disabled Picasa Uploader.
