hello guys. the gyroscope on my galaxy s5 isn't working. i tried to change the firmware and do factory reset but nothings happen? any suggestion please. thankyou .

Fail. what can I do?

Time to take it to a Samsung Service Point or qualified repairer. Europe and some other countries have a 2 year Samsung warranty period which should cover you for a repair if the fault is defective Samsung hardware.

my warranty had already expired. can i consult technician, is there any way to solve this problem?

It's a chipset on the motherboard. Mine went bad also on my last S5. You will probably be better off buying another phone than trying to get this repaired...

It does run on 5.1.1 of the ATT variant.

Thanks! That's good to know that that is re-enabled on the AT&T model for 5.1.1. Is the *#1234# for firmware Version details and *#0808# for USB settings also back?

Here are a few steps:

-STEP 1: test it
dial *#0*# (be patient, it might take a few seconds)
go to "sensors"
click on "gyro selfstest" under "gyroscope sensor"
If result is "fail", proceed with step 2

-STEP 2: boot in safe mode
just watch this video, as seeing it will be easier to understand than me explaining it

-STEP 3: repeat step 1
don't worry if it's still a fail.

-STEP 4: repeat step 1 (again)
it should be a "pass" now. If it isn't, it might be a hardware problem. Then you might need a new phone
try it out on various apps

Hi, i went to safe mode and back which actually worked for about five minutes then the gyroscope stopped again. Sounds like a software issue.

Same issue as many, many others. Just updated a new (to me) S5 and the rotate feature worked fine. An hour later...no love.

Seems none of the tricks worked for me. Not sure what the issue is but I'm leaning towards a hardware issue. Specifically the Accel/Gyro chip.
Swapping the mother/mainboard is definitely beyond the majority of users' scope of repair talent. But quite a few people have had luck getting their rotate feature to work with a hard knock to the back of their phone. I'm very reluctant to do this with this phone.

That said, I thought a more civilized approach might be in order. Perhaps if the chip were exposed, a focused tap to the component would work. ???

With a little digging I located the chip in relation the midframe cover.....see blue dot marking the spot. And a pic of the mainboard showing all exposed.

I'm thinking one could carefully remove a small portion of the plastic cover to expose the chip. I'd do it but I'm purchasing this particular phone on the condition of it working. Not sure if I want to take the plunge.
Anyone else willing to? :-)
