Why had sphero stopped making star wars droids?

I am glad that they have given up. As far as I can see this was developed on Apple and ported to Android in a half-assed way. Nowhere on the sphero site does it mention an android phone that it actually works with. Why does it need a front facing camera? When I run the app it just says updating and does NOTHING. I got my droid as a gift and and very tempted to destroy it using The Force (of gravity)
