LG G3 - LG Keyboard stopped working

A few days ago, I couldn't type at all on my G3 as the keyboard stopped popping up when clicking a text field - luckily I had Swype installed (as I'd bought it for a previous phone that had a rubbish stock keyboard) to use as a back up so I made Swype the default and could type again... however, I miss my LG Keyboard and it's emoticons but I cannot turn it back on - when going into the 'language & input methods' menu, I can adjust the settings for it, but the tick box to turn it on is greyed out?
I tried the usual turn off and on etc, but it's still greyed out and seemingly can't be turned on - any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Apps, and make sure it hasn't been disabled somehow.

I have the exact same problem.

If I go to "Settings --> Keyboard and Language" and try to enable or configure it, it does not run. The keyboard screen just blinks and the app is closed again.

My solution was to install an alternative keyboard. I have chosen the "Adaptxt" app.

As I could not type anything on my phone, I had to search it on my notebook, find the app on Play Store and send the link to my email. After that, I had to open my email on the phone and click on the link.

I also sent an email to LG about the problem but I doubt I will have a satisfactory answer.
I encourage everybody to email them and report the bug.

The "LG Keyboard" app most be corrected.

You can install apps to your phone from the Play store without sending a link via email.

Re: LG G3 - LG Keyboard stopped working

I just experienced the same problem, but after tinkering around for a few minutes I got it working again. What I did was go to settings, apps, all apps. Find 'LG Keyboard' and uninstall updates. It'll ask if you want to restore the factory version of the app. Choose yes. Then reboot the phone and go to settings, language and input. You should see LG keyboard still greyed out, but with a faint checkmark in the box. Above it, you'll see a default keyboard option. Tap on that and choose LG Keyboard. Reboot again, the keyboard should be working. Then go to settings, about phone, update center. Scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see an update button next to LG Keyboard. Update it and reboot again, and you're back to having the latest version of the LG Keyboard and it should be working.

I had the same issue and couldn't find uninstall updates. I had 2 issues, sms app and keyboard wasn't working.
Found out that keyboard app always runs along with the default sms app. Both were making the phone lag or stuck.

What i did was restarted the phone. Started messaging as the first app, deleted all messages.
Now when i used the keyboard in other application or when i open sms app, i was able to get it very quickly.

Not sure if it might work for all.
