Why has my Samsung S3 stopped charging?

my Samsung S3 has stopped charging

it was perfectly fine until a few days ago. one night I was charging it as I slept and I started to hear it connect and then disconnect from the charger quickly and continuously. ever since that night i've been having a harder and harder time trying to get the phone to connect to the charger. is the port messed up? help?

If the phone was working perfectly fine but its not charging after the incident then it should be the charging port problem, I would suggest take the phone to the nearest service provider and check for solutions. I hope you tried charging with another charger.
