AC Question

why has the OS used half a GB of mobile data in one day?

I was using my galaxy phone for google maps and gps while travelling. My mobile data usage was predictable then in one day half of my 1 Gb subscription ot used.
I did setup a secure tether for a couple hours, for an Ipad, but only for email, google maps and web browsing.
What happened and can the android OS data history be dissected?

Thanks Laura. So far the HERE app is working pretty good.

Laura,
Thanks for the reply but I ran the Gps, data and Maps for 16 days and used less than 0.5GB of data. Then all of a sudden 0.3-0.4 gets used in one day???
No something went on...I should also mention we were travelling in Portugal and the access to data was poor. I had +H and +E connections but I'm unclear that we were receiving anything because the maps were not updating...We had a Vodaphone account and I later found out that MEO (te=he Bell of Portugal) actually had most of the coverage). I'm guessing that there was data access but not through my subscriber, at least not clear reception.... Is it possible that these 'signals' were actually incomplete data streams that never actually collated into messages? these bits being received, costs accumulated but no complete data transfers??? Is the receiving software sophisticated enough to filter this noise?
