Why is Apple not suing Google over Nexus infringements?

It is a function that is part of the software that is "infringing" on the patent and Nexus is running stock Android so why is Samsung responsible and not Google for making the OS?

Also if anyone could elaborate on what kind of search it is that they are saying is infringing? It said universal search but I have no idea what that means really...

Did you see what happened to Oracle when they poked Google screaming infringement? It didn't end well for Oracle. Also it is easier to pick off the OEMs and then going for a kill shot after weakening the beast. Its just a jacked up chess game.

This is my opinion, Google nexus hardware manufacturer is Samsung. So that they violate the patent right.

As I understand it, Google doesn't directly make money from Android, since they give it away, after all. The fact that Samsung and others use it, and make money by using it, makes them the targets.

This is the right answer. The Nexus lines of phones are the only ones running Vanilla Android which means pure Stock. Though its branded the Nexus, Samsung is the one that markets and sells these and makes revenue for them. When Google releases Android as open source and makes no money for the OS itself, there is no weight to a Patent suite. So Apple has to target the money making machine which in this case is Samsung. Usually, other manufacturers try and be careful as to not violate all the silly Patents of Apple by adding their own flavor to Android. So Nexus gets the total heat for Patent violations by Google. Hope that answers your query well. :)
