and the Android Central keeps giving me a tapatalk pop up? Also, on the crackberry site, forums easier to read on hand held device too. Why is this?

Why charge for an app to make it easier for reading on the device? Is it really worth the cost? I would like some opinions from Android members if possible.

Thanks;)

If i remember right, CB loads the mobile site by default. AC loads the full page. You might try entering m.androidcentral.com if you don't like the way the full page loads.

As far as tapatalk, I think it makes it easier for the forums. It saves your log in info and the layout is pretty easy. It loads faster than the full site and is easier to use than the mobile site. I guess it would depend on how much you use your phone for the forums.

I really don't think I should have to pay for those features, XDA's app is free and it does all those same things without spamming an ad to buy the features.

The XDA app is Tapatalk but it is only for that site. They must have an something worked out to use the app. With the paid app you can have multiple forums saved and ready to go.

After putting if off because I can be cheap I just purchased tapatalk and it worth every cent if you like checking the forums.

Don't get me wrong, I love AndroidCentral and will most likely get tapatalk but the thing that very much annoys me is having the advertisement shoved down my throat when trying to browse on my phone. I think it would be okay for a suttle ad right when you go to the page but not EVERYTIME you open a new page on the site.

I agree it is annoying to have anything pop up but it would only come up once for me using Dolphin Hd not every page.

Yes, but I should not have to use a 3rd party browser to avoid something that does not need to be there in the first place. Also, I really hope AC fixes their widget so it actually loads when a phone is rebooted. Everytime I reboot my phone it tells me there is no connection and I have to remove the widget and re-add it. I love the site and will continue coming here, don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. Those are pretty much my only 2 peeves among this whole site.

About the tapatalk app, why have a phone with a web browser if you need apps to do stuff. I think its bull crap that I have to hit no thanks every I want to go to android central. Its a ridiculous annoyance to get pop ups on web sites. I can say I really am starting to miss my Bold.

Seeing as how this thread has turned into the direction of Android Central specific talk, this thread belongs in the Android Central Meta forum.

Are they really forcing you to buy an app? Just use the mobile site, it loads way quicker than the full site (duh its a mobile site its supposed to). I check the mobile site quite often and don't use tapatalk. It does not suck. I still read the forums and can still reply to posts from my phone if I want.

As far as missing the Bold or any BB, try loading a full site from anyone...go ahead, I'll wait....after 15 minutes of watching "requesting information" I usually got so frustrated I would quit the browser app and go to a computer. The only thing I miss from my BB days are batt pulls on a daily basis. The only thing BB had over any one used to be push email but with pretty much every phone offering that they have lost their competitive edge.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Crackberry doesn't have Tapatalk. We added the plugin after receiving overwhelming member feedback requesting it. Unfortunately the popup is built in to the plugin. I can research if there's a way to shut it off, but I don't think there is.

You can circumvent the popup by changing the browsers User Agent setting to "desktop". If your browser does not support this, there are alternative browsers that do. Yes, I agree with those who don't like it, but Tapatalk is too popular for us to pull it.

FWIW: I do not use Tapatalk. I prefer a full browser experience.

I think tapatalk is awesome. Like others have said, you can load the mobile version of the site if you want.

There are a few things that I wish tapatalk would add (you other mod's know what I'm talking about ;) ), but it's much faster than loading the full web page for browsing the forums. For me, because i'm on here quite often, it's a huge time saver and well worth the cost. If I need to do something that tapatalk won't let me do I can then load the broswer.

There is also the option of the AC Widget that launches the m.androidcenteral.com site by default, and you can brouse the forums with ease. Or the AC App, not great for the forums, but not bad in browsing the news and articles.

Both the app and widget are free in the market.

With taptalk I can add photos to my post. And mobile ac is way better then mobile crack.

Why can't AC detect mobile browsers and serve the mobile content by default? Bookmarking to the mobile site is fine...except when I click links from the @androidcentral Twitter feed and it takes forever to load an article.

A website about mobile/Android devices should autodetect mobile/Android browsers, no?

I didn't use tapatalk for a while and now that I have had it for a while I love it.
I use it on multiple forums.
I only had it pop up if I was not logged into AC. If yo stay logged in on your phone it won't appear.

CB doesn't use it for security reasons, but you know those darn BB guys lol
