Why is Facebook App consuming my data on Wi-Fi?

Used 1.67 G in less than 2 weeks, was told to turn off auto play of videos that was done before this new billing cycle...Have Samsung Galaxy S6 phones It is only the Facebook app consuming the exorbitant amounts of data

I have run through my whole data plan once just because of Facebook Doon this. I am forced to turn data off when I'm in WiFi.

My carrier in New Zealand gives us 1GB extra for Facebook and everytime I try to click a link on WiFi it says do you want to use your data where is when I click a link on my 4G it doesn't ask me if I want to use my data

I think it's a fault with lollipop because it wasn't happening on kitkat.
