Why is it taking so long for my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro SMP901 to charge ?

I keep my tablet for charging it takes 8 hrs and charges only 40% .Before this incident my tab used to take 8hrs to charge 5 % so I went to my local repair shop to repair it , they repaired the charging port as it was broken and then I started keeping my tab for charging it took 8hrs for 40 % I purchased new Samsung charger have spend lot of money to repair it .It doesn't even charge when my tab is on , it charges only when switched off .I would like to know why is it taking so long ?Do I need a new battery my tab is 4 years old anyway .

Repair shops never told me to replace my battery ,I wonder .

Some told me that it's big taking long time is okay.
$$$Comment :But when it was new it was fast
Once I tried with new charger starting -starting it was quick slowly it went slow.

Welcome to Android Central! A battery that old is probably deteriorating, so I would agree that replacing the battery would be helpful. But it might also be more worthwhile to look into a new device, since your 4 year old tablet is probably pretty obsolete.
