Why is my battery draining so fast on my Samsung S advance?

I have read a lot of other threads that say Google Play Services 9.2.56 is causing a huge battery drain and that is the version that I have, unfortunately.

I ended up buying a brand new battery for my old phone but the drain is still very serious and Google Play Service still uses about 48-50% of my battery.

But the strange thing is that I am not even connected to the internet but my battery still drains. Doesn't the Google Play Service need the internet to drain?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am not very tech savvy at all and am getting desperate since I cannot find the solution to my problem.

As a diagnostic, but not necessarily permanently, try turning off location reporting in Settings, Location. Tell us whether that makes a difference.
