Why is my battery dying

Hiya. The last couple of days my fone has been dying on me and turning off at 50% life. But when I keep the fone off and charge it says 1% life. I have it on stamina mode, mobile date is off when not needing it. Fone says I don't need a update yet I'm one behind. Nevertheless had a problem before. Always been excellent battery life performance.

It could simply be that you need a new battery. 'Dendritic shorts' come to mind as a possibility, should you wish to read about them.
