Why is my cellural data turning off after a few seconds?

Almost always Whenever i turn on cellular data it works for a few seconds and then it stops. It only disappears from the top bar. It doesn't actually turn off the option itself. How do I fix this?
Also if it hasn't been used for a while it works for a few hours and then the above stuff happens.

Have you tried another SIM, or your SIM in another phone?

Well I just got this phone (it's not new) and it the previous phone the cellural data worked fine so it's the phone.

In Settings, connections, have you toggled the automatic use wifi or data as needed based on signal strength?
