why is my clock/weather widget not 4x2

I have installed app widget but i get a short cut, not a 4x2 for my home screen

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone and which widget? If the app shortcut automatically appeared on your homescreen, you probably have the "Add icon to Homescreen" option turned on in the Google Play Store settings.

To add a widget, long-press on any blank area of the homescreen, select Add Widget, and look for that clock/weather widget. If all you see are your apps, look at the top of the screen and tap the widget tab.
