Why is my Galaxy S5 not sending messages and the battery life is draining extremely quick?

So my s5 has acted up this past week and hasn't been sending or receiving any text messages, battery will basically drain by about 30% in an hour even if airplane mode is on and I don't touch it at all. Some apps won't load either. It's strange because for instance I'll be using instagrammed fine but if I try to open snapchat it won't load, this has happened over a few other applications as well. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Also I looked at the battery summary and it said over the past day Google play services used 26% of my battery even though I haven't downloaded anything and phone used 13% of my battery even though I only made one quick phone call under 5 minutes long
