Galaxy S5 switching itself on arbitrarily

Hi there all

I am distraught. I have resisted getting a smartphone for years. I use the phone for calls and texts and didn't need anything else. But finally, I had to join the new world. Now, I have a work phone that is an iPhone and I haven't really got on with that. One of the problems is that it arbitrarily switches on the voice function or phones someone or switches on music. This is just as it moves around. Drives me nuts!

So I finally bought a Galaxy S5 and I am trying to get used to the size and I am loving the phone and it is all good. Until this morning, when my brand new Galaxy switched the music on by itself. I am so unhappy I can't even say how much. I was so looking forward to having this fab new phone and now I don't know what to do. Do I honestly have to leave the phone at home on a flat surface, because if I put it in my pocket and so much as move a little, then it will simply switch itself on?

I will have to admit that I am using the iPhone earphones because my ear shape simply cannot take the Samsung ones and I can't currently afford to get Bose earbuds. Is that the problem?

I hope someone can help because I am very upset about this!

Re: Galaxy S5 switching itself on arbitrarily

Welcome to Android Central! That may be the problem. Apple earbuds (as well as headphones that are labeled as "Made for iPhone") often have compatibility issues with Android devices. If this is only happening when you have the earphones plugged in, then try getting a pair of earphones that are not specifically Made for iPhone.

Re: Galaxy S5 switching itself on arbitrarily

Hi there, I finally managed to register, so now I can reply. I am the original poster. So, I switched to the Samsung earbuds and it is doing it less, but it still happens. I have also switched off the double tap on the menu button to switch on the s-voice. That also seems to have helped, but it still sometimes happens, particularly switching itself off when in my pocket. Hope there is a fix!
