Android Central Question

I had updated it like 2 days ago and now the battery is now
gone in 4 hours! It has been in power saving mode too.

I moved this to the Gear S2 forum for more specific traffic.

This happened to me after the update too. Ended up uninstalling Myfitnesspal and battery usage returned to normal.

After the update my battery is only lasting half as long. I even did a factory reset, still the same...ugh.

Update.... After a few days the battery usage has returned to normal. All I did was a reset, seems to to have settled down over time... Anyone else experiencing this as well?

I have experiencing the same battery drain after the recent update. I have been on the phone with samsung and support has no clue what they are doing with a possible update to.fix the mess they made. I have done 2 resets but per the above poster I'm going to try and reset again and pray to the gods that it will work.

One thought is xould.samsung have done this purposely to make people fo.out and buy a gear s3? But how many people people would buy an s2 right now with the rumor mill being that an s4 is coming this year.

I wish Samsung would.just fix the dam update and hire people who know how to do software. I love their products but I am getting tired with their failures to put out good software in their products. I don't think they learned their lesson from the note 7 mess.

This is just my food for rhought.

I'm the exact same. I used to get 2 days use from a full charge. Now in the last while (possibly since the last update) my battery life has been much shorter.
Today I charged my battery to 100% at 8:00 and my watch ran out of battery around 13:00!!

I have 2 Gear S2 Watches, one Sport the other classic, both LTE T-Mobile. Both were stable and would last 24-30 hours on a charge (Bluetooth on, LTE off, WiFi off, "always on" - off, Brightness 3). After the update, they last only about 12-18 hours. I have tried factory reset. I have deleted all unused apps. I tried the factory reset, but that didn't help.

I think I'm on to something. I wear mine overnight for the sleep monitoring. I noticed that with even the slightest movement, the screen is coming on. I think the update must have made the wake up gesture much more sensitive. I have turned off the wake up gesture and will see if that changes the battery life.

24 hour progress - After running for 24 hours, I have 25% battery left. I am not saying this is the only issue, but switching off the wake up gesture has helped.

This is NOT a solution, as leaving "Wake up Gesture" off is stupid. But something changed in the sensitivity in the wake up gesture. Even minor movements cause the screen to wake up.

SAMSUNG - If you are monitoring the forum, please look at the sensitivity of the wake up gesture.

same here after update. Used to get home from work with 50-60% left. now down to 15% dailu. draining battery like a sieve. turned off location services, turned down brightness. reset. no love.

also, I noticed that when I turned location on it asked me for permission for "Here" , the provider of location services. is that new?

I am here too because rhe new update has caused my Gear S2 to run out of battery after only 12 hours.

Is anybody else bother by this battery issue in general? Every since I got the dumb thing the battery is so bad that it won't run any of the wonderful features without going dead so why bother. It is just a watch but not as good as any plain watch because of the unreliable battery.

SOLUTION!!!

My watch has shown that "Watch Faces" are the top battery usage

On my regular S2, there were 2 requests for updates.
1) Mr. Time: POESIA_Super Design Class_A.Mendini
2) CNN Watch Face for Gear S2

You find these under Samsung Gear program -> Settings -> Samsung Galaxy Apps -> click the three dots in the upper corner -> My Apps -> Update or All. Uninstall both of these apps. I bet it is the CNN constantly updating. You might also try "updating them". I uninstalled since I don't use them!

My watch is back to ~26-28 hours even with the wake up gesture turned on! I did this first on my standard Gear S2 and now I have updated my Classic. Both are back to regular life.

My solution was a little different...the update messed with my Gear S2 3g setting under connections...it set my mobile service to the on position...I do not have cell service on the watch which is what was causing it to drain. Setting the mobile network to always off fixed my battery drain...wifi, Bluetooth and location are all on.

Red-bread THANK YOU!!!!!! I'm forever in your debt.

The only things that sync on my gear s2 are text, calls and life360. I don't need to know anything else other than those 3 things. I work in the health field and we shouldn't be on our phones in front of pt's. So if I get an important call or text I can go somewhere private. GPS, bt and mobile data is turned on. My watch comes off the charger at 0530 for work doesn't go back on until shortly after 1930 when I get home. I'm usually at 77% battery by that time. That's 14 hours of use.

I have a solution. I tired and it worked . Now my battery life is longer .. go to gear app on your phone, go to notifications and uncheck ( show only while wearing gear ) . Doing this will turn off the sensor underneath the gear and your battery life will be normal . Good luck.

can we downgrade to the original software?

I have been having problems with my Gear S2 battery running out fast, and after ordering a new battery and the tools to install it, I decided to turn the watch power right off. After half an hour I turned it back on again and now at 18.30 it is still at 85% having been at 100% at 8.30 this morning! Turning off the power seems to have rejuvenated it! Could be worth a try...
