Why is my locked Note 5 not prompting me to log in using my google account?

I forgot my password, and everything that I am reading says that my phone should prompt me to log in with my Google account (with I know the pw to), however its not.

I went to At&t and BestBuy (Samsung Rep) both told me factory resetting is my only option.

I don't want to lose all my photos (that I have not backed up)

Welcome to Android Central! How many times have you failed the login? It may take a number of failures before it prompts you for your Google account info.

From a desktop browser, go to https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager which will locate your phone after you login. Once your device is located, select the "Lock" option, which will prompt you to enter a temporary password. Now use that temp password to unlock your device. Then immediately go into your lockscreen settings and reset your password/security settings. The only caveat is that your device has to be connected to the internet and Location turned on on the device.
