microphone cutting out during call

I'm having an intermittent problem where the microphone will cut out during a call. It is fine if I'm on speaker phone, but if I turn the speaker off and hold the phone up to my ear, sometimes the person on the other end cannot hear me. Sometimes, it seems as though it may be the angle the phone is being held at, but I never had this problem with my S4.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-24977

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware problem.

Also if you don't have the bandwidth for HD calling it will do that. I had to disable mine because of this.

I am having the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on T-Mobile. Switching to speaker phone and back fixes the issue for a while. Also having problems with sending messages on wifi. Many messages say failed yet were usually delivered.

I have the same issue with my S7 edge with Swisscom in Switzerland. I will return the phone :(

Similar issue w/AT&T S7 edge, returned my 1 week old phone new one did the same thing in the AT&T store, Tech support has no clue told me to call Samsung :(

I was having the same problem in my new Galaxy s7. I finally figured out what the problem is. I always talk with my phone on my left side. I hold the phone in my left hand and to steady my phone more, I wrap my pinkie around the bottom of the phone. The microphone is on the bottom right corner of the phone and my left pinkie is over the mic, therefore, other people cannot hear me. When I moved my pinkie, the other person could hear me just fine. I was not having this problem when my phone was on speaker or using my blue tooth in my car, so I figured it had something to do with the mic. I tested my theory on a couple of folks and that's what it was. Just try not to put your finger over the mic.
