Why is my motorola droid turbo adding +31 to phone numbers?

My motorola Droid Turbo is adding +31 to phone numbers under some condidtions. It happens if I try to save an incoming call as a contact (it saves the number with the added +31 in front so it renders the number useless) and also if I dial from the text screen to someone who is already a contact. It does not do this if I dial a simple contact. Still haven't been able to pinpoint precise conditions but it has been going on for about a week now.

PS - also appears to be connected to my texting which now randomly starts a new conversation instead of keeping all my texts with one contact in one conversation?

Are you in the Netherlands? 31 is the country code for the Netherlands. If you have Settings/Device/Call/More settings set with Auto area code checked, it will do that.
