Why is my note not updating

I wanted to update my note 8 but when I clicked on software update first it shows regestring device and then processing fail appears and doesn't updates the software

Is the phone rooted? Are you running a custom ROM? Have any modifications been made that would affect the system? Those are all reasons that an update would fail.

So would there not being any update available or the server it's coming from failing or having too high a load.

try plugging it in to a PC and running side sync
