Why is my phone degenerating?

Different pieces of hardware have stopped working over the past year on my unlocked M7, and I'm not sure what's causing the failures.
The volume up key broke last summer, the front-facing camera broke in February, and the volume down key just broke yesterday.
I've tried soft reset and factory reset before, but neither helped.
Is there a software fix, should I replace the broken hardware, or should I upgrade to a new phone?
Soft buttons just don't do it for me - I'm running Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with CyanogenMod

Hi, I would put it down to normal wear and tare as it's more than 3 years old now. If parts of the hardware are failing or breaking, no software update will be able to fix these - a repair shop might be able to, but at this stage I would suggest picking up a new phone.

The accelerometer just quit too. I'm not afraid to crack it open and replace parts to kill some time, but I'll take your advice on this one and upgrade. Thanks!
