Why is my phone dying so fast?

When I go onto my phone and use it, it shows the samsung screen and turns off. When I try to turn it on, it shows the product name, turns to the Samsung screen, then turns black. But when I charge it, it shows the battery as 0%. This never happened and why is this happening now?
