Why is my phone going haywire when i put my headphones in it or connect it to our bose speaker?

I have a Samsung Galaxy j3 emerge.
So lately whenever i put my headphones (these Sony headphones my dad had) in the headphone jack, tge phone just goes crazy- apps will open when im on another app and that app will close, i wont be able to type before whatever app im typing in just shuts, and i can only listen to my downloaded music because yoytube wont stay open longer then, like, ten seconds. I cant listen to music through headphones without it happening. It started after a family trip (20 hr drive) last week, but i dont know if that helps or not. It doesnt do it when i dont have them in the phone, but itg does it when i connect to our bose speaker, too- Help?

Bad jack, bad wiring, bad motherboard, corrupt system, too many possibilities to list and they're all guesses. To actually find out, the phone has to go on a workbench and be diagnosed. And considering the price of the phone, it may not pay. Take it to a good repair shop (back up everything first) and see if they can guess at an estimate.
