why is my phone going into boot up mode by itself?

my LG optimus 7 keeps going into the "boot up" mode after a little while of inactivity and the only way make it properly turn back on is to remove the battery and put it back in. i have scanned for viruses and there doesn't seem to be any. any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! It could be a failing battery--does the battery drain more quickly than usual? Try a new or different battery.

It could also be a faulty Power button, or some software glitch. You could try Safe Mode, which can tell you if the problem is caused by a 3rd party app that you installed. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.
