why is my phone randomly getting stuck on the start up screen?

My phone got stuck on the start up screen, no buttons would work including the power button. I removed the battery for 10 seconds and rebooted the phone, it worked for a while and then it started randomly freezing on the start up screen more frequently. I did a factory reset and have installed only a handfull of apps, and the problem is still getting worse. I have a blu studio 5.0 II that runs on android 4.2.2

Welcome to Android Central! If it worked for a while, how would it get stuck on the startup screen again? Would it randomly reboot?

Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.
