why is my phone saying google play services have stopped

my sync icon is on...not normal...and really slow sending text messages

Go to Phone Settings > remove Google account.

Settings > Installed apps > Google Play services > 1st clear cache and then data.

Reboot and add Google account. Let it sync. Hopefully, issue will be solved.
