Why is my Samsung A5 having issues connecting to WiFi?

AC Question

I have been having issues with connecting to different Wifi networks that I generally use when I am out. If I am at home or at a friend's house, I don't generally get this problem, but some networks such as my work or at restaurants that I frequent a lot, I cannot connect.

When the problem occurs, I go to the Wifi screen and it is just scanning repeatedly with the message "Obtaining IP address..." and will sit there for hours not actually being able to connect.

I have done a full restore, switched off the "Smart Network Switch" and restarted it multiple times all to no avail. This has only started occuring in the last few days, as before I had no such issues. Coincidentally, it has begun happening to a couple of people I know as well, and they tell a very similar story.

Not sure how to solve this problem and was wondering if anyone had similar issues and had figured out how to solve it.

Yep I made a thread as I had exactly the same issue with the S6 . I had no problem at my house or friends and family but if out at Store or cafe It did exactly what yours did. It's a real pain.

Hi there,

I have the same issue with my new Samsung A5 please help us solve this issue as I am at work all day and really need to connect to my work WiFi...

I just go my A5 a couple of weeks ago. I'm constantly getting 'connecting to wifi' messages on my screen. Is this the same issue? I also seem to have Bluetooth issues. Even with a device I'm already paired to I will need to restart the phone to connect. Very frustrating.
