Why is my samsung galaxy s5 headphone jack not working properly

I've had a samsung galaxy s5 for about 2 years maybe one. My headphone jack (the place I plug in the head phones) won't work loudly it's quiet and almost no sound at all its not the headphones I don't want to take it to a store to pay money yet. Any tips or suggestions, thanks

Welcome to Android Central! When you plug the headphones in, are they clicking into place, or does it seem like you can't push them in all the way? Inspect the jack closely--is there any debris in there? Blow it out with a can of compressed air, or use a damp toothpick to root around.
