Why is my water damage phone indicator black?

water damage indicator is black

I dropped my Galaxy S3 in some water the other day and immediately took it apart. The water damage indicator on the battery was still perfectly white but the indicator on the phone was completely black. I have never heard of this since usually it's white or red or blue. Does anyone know why this is?

Usually the indicator turns red or blue as you mentioned. Perhaps it's different for your S3 compared to other devices? I would assume that it's likely that means it came in contact with the moisture. Since dropping it in water and taking it apart have you been able to use it?
