Why is my WhatsApp using my microphone all the time?

I am using s22 ultra and I am getting a green dot saying WhatsApp is using the microphone even when the app is closed.

Well that's definitely not good I've never used WhatsApp, but it definitely shouldn't be listening in on you. Do you have a voice conversation open with someone? Or maybe didn't close out a conversation using the mic?

If you long press on the WhatsApp icon a menu will pop up, click on info, then when you are in the app click on permissions, an option will come up to allow WhatsApp to access things like your microphone... when you see that option turn it off

Check it's permission if it's allowed always or just while it's using the app
