Why is the factory reset taking a long time?

why is the factory reset taking a long time?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Light from Metro PCS. I tried to do a "factory reset" through the settings menu. It gave me a "shutting down..." message but it is taking a very long time. Is this normal? What should I do?

Has it fully started to reset now or are you still stuck in the "shutting down" screen?
