Why is the screen on my Samsung tablet dimming?

why is the screen on my samsung tablet dimming

the screen is fine when i turn it on,but dims and will not brighten back up.is it time for a new tablet?

Maybe you have automatic brightness? This causes brightness to adjust depending on ambient light.
