Why is WatchESPN so terrible on Android tablets?

I could rant about ESPN's apps in general on Android since I think Scorecenter is a laggy mess too, but I am particularly enraged at WatchESPN on my Acer Iconia A500. While I am "fortunate" enough to have Time Warner cable so I can actually sign in and watch the ESPN content on this app, it just looks horrible on my tablet. The video shows up in a tiny window and doesn't fill the screen, and the video itself just looks horrid. On the other hand, on my wife's iPad 2 it fills the screen and looks great. Does ESPN hate Android?

Just watch it through the Browser with Flash and you dont have to have one of the 3 providers, I do this all the time and it works fine for me. But also I dont have Time Warner, Verizon Fios or Brighthouse to be able to use the app I have ATT so Ive never seen the app.
