Why isn't my Facebook messenger giving me the new icons stating send and delivered?

When I send a message in facebook messenger it doesn't give me the new icons sending sent delivered with a picture. I can't uninstall the app it keeps reinstalling. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Have you tried to go in to the settings, application manager, all apps, and clearing the data from the app. That should reset the app and might fix the issue?
