Why isn't my Galaxy S3 starting or shutting down after the new update?

[AC Question]

My galaxy s3 is not starting or shutting down after the new update. Help !

After the last update yesterday, my phone was stuck on the first logo you see after switching your phone on. i could't switch it off or start the OS, the only thing that worked is restart. after several restarts, a weird paige color screen appeared. my phone is not rooted and this never happened before. any help is appreciated

Well, thats the problem .. i cant. all the answers that i looked into were to open the recovery thing. but i cant ... !!
and yes i was updated over the air.

See if you can boot into Download Mode. Then you could try installing the firmware using Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html

I already have odin installed and it recognizes my device. can you please tell me what to do next including maybe some links to files and instructions
because i used multiple CWM recovery tar files and it failed for unknown reasons.

Sorry, but I don't have experience with actually doing it. Sammobile.com is probably the best place to look for the firmware--make sure you choose the exact model number of your phone. Firmwares - SamMobile
