Why isn't my headphone jack not working properly?

headphone jack not working properly

when i plug my headphone jack in my moto g3,music is still playing through the speakers rather then the headphone.sometime it works properly ,but most of the time it is not working.. Anyone else have this problem?i think it started happen after 6.0 update.

it happened to me once when testing 6.0, before rolling back to 5.1.1, I thought it was my headphones acting up but now I'm starting to believe maybe Marshmallow has some kind of compatibility issues. On 5.1.1 my Sennheiser CX275S works flawlessly all the time.
