why my htc one m8 back camera isn't working??

yesterday i bought my new htc one m8 and the camera is stuck at either selfie or photo booth soo the front cameraa i working but the back one isn't.. plz help!! haw to make the back cameraa work?!!!

Welcome to Android Central! Does that persist after a reboot?

Have you tried another camera app (maybe Google Camera for simplicity's sake)? That way you would know if it was an app issue or with the phone itself.

My HTC One M8 does the exact same thing. Only the front (selfie) camera and Photo Booth are available. No other options. I tried downloading a different camera app, but they can only access the main (rear) camera at very low resolution. I can't select the maximum resolution (4MP), and the quality is horrible. Some camera apps can't access the camera at all. I also tried safe-mode and that made no difference. I've concluded that the HTC One M8 is really a piece of crap. I haven't found anyone, including HTC, who knows what's going on.
