Why isn't my music showing the artist names?

question about transfered music

ok so I just found some music on my external hard drive that I wanted to put on my phone I figured it out and it works fine but is there a way to get the pic for the songs I think it had them on the computer but I cant rember and it had the song name and artist but when I try and find it in google play music it wont show the name and I know I had done this in the past but it maybe have ben a iPhone feature and it was a long time ago

You need to use a program that can edit the ID3 tags on the track. On your computer, this can easily be done with Windows Media Player or iTunes. Add the album art to the music tracks using one of those programs first, and then transfer the music to the phone.

Used to be able to do this with poweramp. I think you still can but not for tracks on the SD card.

I use media monkey on the computer. They have an app for the phone but I don't think I can use it because my music is on my sd card.
